about

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I'm a nerd wanna-be.  some people in my life will probably say something to the effect that I could not be a nerd wanna-be, as I am already a nerd. to them I say that I couldn't disagree more - and I'm not trying to defend my honor here - it's just that I'm not cool enough to be a nerd. that doesn't make sense? well, consider this: nerds are totally geeked out on something, obsessed to the point that they're generally experts on whatever subject matter it is they're into. I wish that I could say the same about myself, but these days I can't.

so anyway, what brings this self-reflection on is the fact that I've found myself completely enamored of the This Is My Next Podcast, and its crew.  I like it so much that I've stopped listening to NPR during my commutes and have replaced it with old Engadget podcasts.  my husband is responsible for getting me hooked. he began playing them during long car rides.  although I groused quite a bit during the first few, it was still better than being forced to listen to the Grateful Dead.

my husband doesn't seem to find it strange that I've developed a crush on Paul Miller's voice/podcast persona.  I, on the other hand, find it completely unsettling and creepy that I'm willing to listen to three people jabber on about cell phones and networks and stuff.  but they do have a good patter going. these are funny people.  they're smart people.  in my opinion, they make this type of tech commentary about as interesting as it can get.

This is my next = my first taste of the podcast that caused an identity crisis

this is an un-official fanblog of the podcast.  My plan is to collect my thoughts about the podcasts here - show by show. I'm beginning at the start of the Josh Topolsky, Paul Miller, Nilay Patel podcasts (Engadget podcast 113). tune in here to see what happens when one non-tech savvy girl gets way too involved in listening to old podcasts about technology.
